Welcome

Big Pit, Blaenavon    Torfaen Sustainability Week  Cardboard collections

From this site you will be able to access webcasts of our live council meetings, view archived council meetings, view or complete any surveys or polls and see any agendas, documents or presentations that were part of the meeting.

Using this site

Once you've clicked on the webcast you want to watch, you can follow the proceedings and view the agenda and the reports that are being discussed by clicking on the RESOURCES tab which is located underneath the date and time. You'll find all the reports laid out individually so it's easier to follow. You can also view information on the SPEAKERS and tell us what you think by using the FEEDBACK tab.

Why are we webcasting?

We've introduced webcasting because we believe it's more important than ever that you, our residents, can be engaged in the decision making of the council.  From education to planning, waste collections to social care, local government is making key decisions that affect everyone who lives, works and visits our borough and we want you to be part of that decision making process.

We know that people are not always able to come along and watch proceedings from the public gallery, so are using technology to enable people to tune in, online, from the comfort of their own homes, at a time and place to suit them.

Have your say

We also welcome your view and comments on the proceedings.  If you are a social media user you can have your say on a whole range of issues on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/torfaen or on Twitter @torfaencouncil and there are useful quick buttons so you can share links to your own networks. We'll also be posting regular updates so you know when the next webcasting is coming up.

We also welcome your views on the webcasting itself. Tell us what you thought of the webcast, how could it be improved, what did you like?  It's a new service we want to develop to meet the demands of Torfaen residents, so your views will really help.

What you can expect

Webcasts will be live, and a recording of the meeting will be available within 48 hours.

Archived meetings have handy index points allowing you to jump to specific agenda items or speakers - for example, if you wanted to hear what your local councillors said on a particular issue in your ward, you can just click a link to go to straight to that point of the meeting, rather than listening to the whole proceedings from the start.

Upcoming and our most recent meetings are displayed on the right hand side of this page.  To view an archive of a recent meeting simply click on the title of the meeting you wish to view.

Webcasts of our meetings that are six months or older can be found by visiting the Torfaen Council Democracy and Scrutiny channel.

If you have any issues or queries please use the Help button or email your views to:  democraticservices@torfaen.gov.uk
